For those driving, the region is a comfortable three-hour trip from Melbourne via the Hume Freeway or a six-hour drive from Sydney, with well-connected roads leading directly to the hearts of Corowa, Howlong, and Mulwala.

If you prefer to travel by rail or coach, V/Line and NSW TrainLink offer regular services to nearby Albury and Wangaratta, where connecting buses make reaching our riverside towns a breeze. For those arriving from further afield, Albury Airport is just a short drive away, providing multiple daily flights from major capital cities and convenient car hire options to help you start your adventure immediately.

Transport options

Car

Our regional centre, Corowa, is 300km from Melbourne, while Mulwala is around 280km. The easy drive takes a bit over 3 hours

Head north along the Hume Freeway and exit at Benalla (for Mulwala) or the Corowa Wahgunyah turn off, north of Wangaratta (for Corowa). Continue through Corowa following Federation Way turning left where it meets Riverina Highway (B58) on to Urana. Mulwala is 40km west of Corowa and Howlong is 27km east of Corowa.

From Sydney the trip is about 6 hours 30 mins. Head south along the Hume Freeway and exit at the Albury, Lake Hume, Corowa turn off and follow the signs. For Urana take the Wagga Wagga exit and follow the Sturt Highway (A20) through Wagga Wagga (85km) then turn left on Collingullie Jerilderie road towards Urana via Lockhart (85km).

Air

Albury Airport is 28km east of Howlong, 58km east of Corowa and operates multiple daily flights between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional centres. Narrandara /Leeton Airport is located 81km north of Urana.

Regional Express Airlines operates services between Melbourne and Albury or Wagga Wagga and between Sydney and Albury, Wagga Wagga or Narranderra/Leeton. For flight schedules and fares contact 13 17 13 or visit their website.

Train and bus

V/Line and NSW TrainLink run a number of daily rail services between Melbourne and Sydney and visitors can stop at Albury or Wangaratta and connect with bus services that link Corowa, Howlong and Mulwala with other regional centres and capital cities. Passengers can connect with the XPT Fast Train, VLine train and bus services at Wangaratta or Albury Station.

How to get around

Bike hire

Bikes can be hired from Sports Power Corowa, Howlong Golf Resort and Urana Caravan Park.

Walking and cycling maps are available from the Corowa Visitor Information Centre and the Yarrawonga Mulwala Visitor Information Centre.

Car hire

You can hire a car from any of the major hire companies at the Albury Airport.

Taxi

There are two taxi businesses that service Corowa and Mulwala:

Shuttle bus

Some local licenced clubs offer a shuttle bus service to and from their venues.
